This is a genuine Mercury OEM gearcase (GC VER XXL) originally sold under part number 8M0117265. Mercury later superseded this part number to 8M0228070, which is the current factory replacement. Function, fit, and specifications remain the same – the newer number simply reflects Mercury’s updated cataloging.
