This GPS Gateway is the correct interface module for the original Yamaha Helm Master system . It bridges GPS position data from the Yamaha GPS antenna/unit into the Helm Master control network, enabling autopilot heading-hold and joystick station-keeping functions (Drift Point, Fish Point, Stay Point)

This part is specific to the first-generation Helm Master (6ES) platform and is not interchangeable with the gateway modules used on later Yamaha systems, including:

6YG-8A2D0-xx-00 — used on later Helm Master / Helm Master EX consoles (different network hardware generation)
6YM-8A2D0-xx-00 — used with MFD Interface applications on other Yamaha rigging setups

Before ordering, confirm your boat's system generation against a Yamaha parts fiche using your outboard/rigging serial number, since the 6ES, 6YG, and 6YM part families are not cross-compatible despite sharing the same "8A2D0" base numbering.
