The LAS-10 system is designed as a complete engineered solution consisting of multiple detectors, a central control unit, and a monitoring interface. Depending on vessel size and layout, a full system typically includes 2–48 detectors, a control unit for signal processing, and a monitor used for alarm settings, data logging, and system diagnostics.

A full system is normally configured and calibrated for the specific vessel using a smoke test to determine optimal detector placement for early warning of oil spray or gas leakage.
