We recently acquired a large inventory of overstock items and spare components that were originally designated for installation on a vessel undergoing a major refit and repower project. When the project was halted prior to completion, all components were placed into storage.

We believe this component was recently refurbished and intended for installation as part of a larger Rolls-Royce steering gear system.

The Group 2 bidirectional external hydraulic gear motor is a Sauer-Danfoss gear motor. This unit was damaged during transport, resulting in a cracked and broken housing flange connection.

We believe the damage can be repaired without extensive work and that, once repaired and properly resealed, it will not affect the unit's functionality or performance.

After carefully sanding the damaged identification plate, the model number was confirmed as SNM2NN/8,0BN02AA. As all of these units were removed from the same steering gear assembly, we believe this gear motor is the same model as the others and therefore carries the same part number.

The model designation can be interpreted as follows:

SNM2NN – Group 2 bidirectional hydraulic gear motor (SNM2NN/8, 0BN02AA)
/8 – Displacement of 8.0 cm³ per revolution
B – Bidirectional rotation
N – Standard seals
02 – Mounting flange with an 80 mm pilot diameter and four-bolt mounting pattern
AA – Galvanized assembly screws

The hydraulic gear motor is driven by an ABB 3GAA101312 three-phase electric motor with its manufacturer's data plate remaining intact and legible. The attached valve block and feedback unit also retain their original Rolls-Royce identification numbers.

This hydraulic gear motor assembly was originally designed for use as part of a Rolls-Royce steering gear system but may also be suitable for other hydraulic applications, depending on your requirements.
